Left Block: Hands off Doxa!

Statement of solidarity from PI Member Left Block for independent magazine DOXA.
This morning, Russian security services conducted searches of three employees of the student magazine DOXA — including editors Armen Aramyan (a PI volunteer) and Natalia Tyshkevich, as well as correspondent Vladimir Metelkin — and the editorial offices of the publication.

Absurdly, Natalia, Armen and Vladimir were charged with "involving minors in the commission of unlawful acts" (paragraphs (a) and (c) of Part 2 of Article 151.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The maximum penalty under these provisions is up to three years in prison.

The trio now face de facto house arrest and other restrictions. They are barred from leaving their homes between 00:00 and 23:59 of the following day, and they cannot communicate with anyone other than a lawyer without the written permission of the investigator — or use the Internet and other means of communication.

As of 20:00 Moscow time, the Moscow Basmanny Court has already banned Vladimir Metelkin from taking a number of prescribed actions for as long as two months.

The Left Block expresses solidarity with the DOXA team and calls on the world's progressive forces to support one of the few truly independent publications in Russia!
