Founded in 1963 as part of the New Left upsurge, it became, and remains, a place for debate, analysis and reportage across the broad left.
Arena seeks to cover global political, social and cultural issues by critically examining not only current events and trends in life and politics but also received ideas and conventional interpretations from within the left. We are particularly interested in challenging movements for change to explore not only capitalism but also science and technology as forces implicated in the collapse of societies, life-worlds and environments. We seek to re-imagine the radical possibilities proposed by the left over two centuries and renew them with new forms and new possibilities.
